The answers below explain how the marketplace works today. Purchasing, activation and account features described as planned are not yet available through FancyNumber.ca.

Buying a Phone Number

What is a premium phone number?

A premium phone number is a telephone number valued for being easy to remember, distinctive, or relevant to a business. A familiar area code, repeated digits, or a meaningful word can make one number more desirable than another. Pricing depends on the particular listing and may change.

What is the difference between local and vanity numbers?

A local number uses a geographic area code associated with a telephone numbering region. A vanity number spells a word or phrase using letters on a telephone keypad. One number can be both local and a vanity number.

Can I buy a Canadian phone number while living outside Canada?

Some providers can serve customers outside the area associated with a phone number, but number activation, service addresses, identity checks and carrier eligibility may impose restrictions. Confirm the requirements for the specific number and your chosen telephone provider before paying.

Can I request a particular number that is not listed?

Searching for a specific sequence does not guarantee that it is available. Numbers may already be assigned or offered through a different provider. At present, FancyNumber.ca only displays listings returned by its connected supplier. If no match appears, try a different pattern or area code.

Does saving a number reserve it?

No. Your shortlist is saved only in your current browser and does not reserve or hold inventory. The number may be purchased by someone else or its price may change. Availability must be checked again before ordering.

Can I buy a number on FancyNumber.ca today?

Not yet. Our marketplace currently supports browsing, price comparisons and saved numbers. Secure checkout and supplier fulfillment are being integrated and will be enabled only after end-to-end validation.

Prices, Currency and Fees

Why does FancyNumber.ca display USD and CAD?

The supplier lists number purchase prices in U.S. dollars. We offer an optional approximate Canadian-dollar display so customers can compare costs more easily. The original USD amount is the authoritative retail price until another payment currency is explicitly supported at checkout.

Will I be charged the CAD amount shown?

No. An amount marked Approx. CAD is an estimate calculated from a Bank of Canada indicative exchange rate, not a payment quote. When ordering becomes available, the actual checkout currency and charge will be displayed before payment. Your bank may apply its own conversion rate and fees.

Are the prices on number cards the complete cost?

Cards display the listed one-time customer purchase price for individually saleable numbers. Taxes, carrier service, activation, messaging, transfer and other eligible charges may be separate. The checkout process must disclose applicable charges before payment.

Is telephone service included in the number purchase price?

Do not assume it is. Buying the rights to use or transfer a number and paying for an ongoing telephone service are different arrangements. Verify what the selected supplier and the provider who will host the number include.

Why are some numbers more expensive?

Memorability, established demand, a recognized area code, repeated digits, suitable brand words and seller asking prices can affect what a number costs. Higher prices do not guarantee more calls or improved business performance.

Can number prices change while I compare?

Yes. The supplier may change pricing or remove a listing. Saving a number does not lock the price. The current price and availability need to be rechecked before any order is placed.

Are sale prices always permanent?

No. Promotions and seller discounts can be temporary. We display a sale label or original price only when a current supplier listing supplies enough information to support that comparison.

Activation and Number Porting

Can I use the number with my current phone provider?

It depends on the number, rate center, and your provider's technical and geographic support. Before purchasing, ask your intended carrier whether it can activate or port the exact number and which documents it requires.

What is number porting?

Porting is the process of moving a telephone number between compatible service providers while keeping the number itself. Porting eligibility, timing, service interruptions and identity requirements vary by number and carrier.

How long does number activation take?

Timing varies by listing and provider. Some listings can be fulfilled more quickly, while others require manual processing or transfer steps. We will display any verified supplier fulfillment information for a specific listing, but cannot promise a universal activation time.

Does a Toronto or Halifax area code mean the company is located there?

No. An area code can signal the original numbering region but does not prove a caller's physical location or a business address. Numbers can be used through remote phone systems and may be transferable.

What is a telephone rate center?

A rate center is a geographic unit used in telephone numbering and routing arrangements. It can matter for number availability and whether a carrier can support a number in the desired service area. Ask your prospective carrier to check compatibility.

Can I move the number to a different provider later?

Often, but not automatically. Future transfer eligibility depends on the specific number, account status, service provider and applicable rules. Obtain written confirmation of any important transfer requirements before purchase.

Business Features and Support

Can I receive text messages or use messaging apps?

Messaging support depends on the number and the carrier or service hosting it. Business verification and application-specific rules can also apply. A number being offered for sale does not guarantee compatibility with SMS, WhatsApp or other messaging services.

Can I forward calls to an existing number?

Call forwarding is typically provided by the service that hosts the number after activation, not by the premium number listing itself. Confirm available services and rates with your planned provider.

Can I buy several numbers for my business?

NumberBarn may offer individual listings or bundles, but FancyNumber.ca currently shows eligible individual local sale listings only. Multi-number packages and bundled fulfillment require a separate verified ordering flow.

Can I rent or license a number instead of purchasing it?

Certain suppliers and listings support licensing arrangements that may have setup fees, monthly fees and annual increases. FancyNumber.ca has not yet launched licensing checkout. Do not interpret the displayed purchase price as an offer to license.

Will I have an online account and order history?

Customer accounts, verified order tracking and supplier-fulfillment status are planned for the purchase release. The current saved-number shortlist is stored locally in your browser; it does not constitute an account or completed order.

What happens if a supplier cannot complete my order?

We will publish binding ordering, cancellation and refund terms before enabling checkout. We cannot promise a particular refund or replacement policy while that process remains under development.
